Baby Manatees

This evening I've been swimming with two baby manatees - that is, they swam out to me, curious, playful, and quite adorable!
So innocent of the things happening now in the Gulf of Mexico.
You can imagine how happy I was when Ocean came out to the end of a jetty in Florida, where we both are in order to assist in any ways we can, and told me that the gushing oil is being stopped at this point.
We're praying constantly anyway!
But it just felt wonderful to have hope again!
Hope, the sages tell us, is a very strong way to bring good vibes in, and its' attendant faith in God, held devotedly, must help all of us fish, mammals, and reptiles in the Gulf!
These little guys today, though, were so joyous, and were venturing forth without the adults possibly for the first time!
Gravitating to an area where dogs too were swimming - Ocean had brought her own rescued dogs out for a swim - the manatee babies kept lifting their cute, doughy heads out of the water with their large, questing eyes peering around, making contact by swimming just feet away, and entirely enjoying making the acquaintance of the world!
They're such exquisite beings, and so large and grand!
These little manatee kids were around five feet or so, and naturally, I resisted the urge to touch them - it's wisely against the human laws to touch manatees, and any other sea being, and so I respect them and their privacy too - we Mers always wait for other beings to make contact with us as they wish - so I merely smiled back and admired them!
The Gulf is such a beautiful place - in the areas that are so far untouched - and taking some time off from helping with the clean up has been lovely.
I try not to be too gloomy about the future prospects of other disasters.
We Mers can only hope that all you humans take heed and change your world by becoming politically active.
